Spacious and light 2-bed apartment in Berlin for swap with Sascha & Andreas

Our spacious flat with 105 square meters is located in Friedrichshain, one of the central districts of Berlin. It is on the first floor with a generous open floor plan. Entering the flat you will find a large open living and dinner area facing southbound from where you access the larger one of our two balconies to the wonderful green court yard. On the opposite side of the flat you will find the two bedrooms from which you can enter the second balcony.

Alexanderplatz with the 367 meters high tv-tower, the socialistic Karl-Marx-Allee, the East Side Gallery (remaining parts of the Berlin Wall), many lovely beach bars on the river Spree and of course the world famous Berghain are only a few of the sights in direct range of our flat. Friedrichshain used to be a part of former East-Berlin and is now one of the “in” areas, with lots of bars, restaurants, lovely little shops and short distances to all the magnificent sights of this exceptional city.

Although it is situated in a vivacious part of town, the flat is wonderfully calm. Even though there are parking spaces directly in front of our house, you will not need a car here. Public transport facilities in Berlin are brilliant, there are a bus and a tram station 150 meters from our place and the subway and the fast s-bahn are only a 10 minutes’ walk away.

We are a gay couple and have been together for eleven years now. We love travelling and have exchanged homes already a couple of times in Europe.

Reviews from other users

We stayed in Sasha and Andreas flat in Berlin for two weeks, while they were in our summer cottage in Apulia.
The flat is just great, very well located in the Friedrichain area.  The flat was very clean, tidy, tastefully decorated and comfortable. Even the weather was good! It was a very good experience. Thanks to our hosts.

Superb San Francisco swap with Greg & Richard

An 1885 Victorian condo in a 2 unit Victorian home. The condo has been fully remodeled and has a front living room, 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and a kitchen/dining/living room in rear of condo looking out over a sunny deck (deeded to our condo) and a well maintained rear garden. The condo is allocated one of two garage spaces in a tandom garage. The condo has been completely remodeled and has many high end furnishings. There is a new washer and and dryer in the basement (free, and not shared with upper unit).

We are located on Scott Street, between Haight Street and Waller Street. The condo has easy access to 5 bus lines and is within a five minute walk of SF MUNI (SF’s subway system) and BART. There is easy access to 101 and 280 freeway enterances. Napa and Sonoma wineries are 1 1/2 hour drive away. Monterey and Carmel is about a 2 hour drive. It is a 4 hour drive to Yosemite National Park. While we are located on a SF bycycle route, we do not bike. There are nearby places to rent bikes. While the condo is not childproofed, older children would be considered.

We are a responsible, gay male couple, both 62 years old. We have completed 14 previous home exchanges, and we always leave the exchanged home as we found it, and we would expect the same here.

We are looking for a 3-4 week European exchange to Seville, Granada, Barcelona or the Italian Amalfi Coast area. The exchange time frame should be mid April, 2013 at the earliest and no later than ending in mid October, 2013.

We would also consider a 3-4 day local exchange within a 2-3 hour drive from San Francisco, CA.

Edinburgh homeswap with Esther & Bev available…

We have a beautiful traditional Edinburgh apartment on a great leafy street 10minutes walk away from the city centre.

Our home has all the traditional features: high ceilings, great cornice work, tiled entrance hall, sash windows and wooden floors. The apartment sleeps 4 people and has a cot for any babies that might stay! The mater bedroom has a small ensuite shower room and the main bathroom has a bath and over bath hand held shower.

We have a small but well stocked kitchen with gas burners and oven. The second bedroom is currently used as a nursery but also has a mezzanine double bed built in.

Edinburgh has loads going on, wether it is culture, arts, music or the great outdoors, it’s all here. Great art galleries are only a few minutes walk away, as is some fantastic shopping and entertainment. Edinburgh has brilliant walks including the union canal, water of leith walk ways, the Pentland hills, Arthur seat and east Lothian beaches.

We live a few minutes from edinburghs gay scene which includes bars, clubs and restaurants. Our area is very safe and friendly and has a great park, lovely cafes and coffee shops. Some lovely local shops include a French patisserie, quality gourmet butchers and local fish shop.

We are a family of three - Esther (32), Bev (30) and our little boy Seth (3month). We have lived in this area for 4 years and can’t imagine living anywhere else. We love to travel but with our new edition we now need to make travel more affordable and less frequent!

We are keen to travel in the USA and also European capital cities.

Munich - Jenny would like to swap her great apartment

I have a 495.14ft² sized, double room flat with one bedroom and one living room. A tiny kitchen (tiny but it has all you need like stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, etc.) is connected to the living room. The bathroom is also small and unfortunately has no bathtub - only a shower. The entire flat is “dressed” in 50s style. I have w-lan, television and earth phone connection. The bedroom has a french bed cosy enough for two people to sleep in and there is an additional place to sleep for another single person in the living room. I would also offer my car and bike if needed. I have a small Citroen C3 Pluriel and a garage to park.

My flat is directly next to the underground station “Kolumbusplatz” - you only have to walk like 1 minute to get there. From Kolumbusplatz it is 3 stops to Munich central station. The area my flyt is located at is called “München-Au” and it is only about 8 minutes walking distance from the Isar - the river that goes through Munich and is one of the most beautiful places to hang out during spring and summer. Many gay places and hangouts are within short walking distance to my flat - or - if you don’t like walking, you just take the tube which would be only one stop to “Frauenhoferstraße” and you are just in the center of gay Munich.

I am always up for suggestions. If you want to travel Munich, feel free to contact me and make your offer. I am open for any kind of home in exchange to mine as long as you treat my personal belongings, furniture and stuff with respect and care, I am pretty laid back. Of course I will be as respectful with your home.

Very quiet, front-yard with flowers and plants.

I’m Patrick, 63, single , artist, and teacher of public art school in Paris ( beaux arts de paris, part of the french ministry of culture).
I live and travel with Julian, 38, Briton. He works at the British language school, he speaks fluent English, French, Spanish and Italian.
Jacques, 75, a retired art book editor, a friend of ours, travels regularly with us.

Reviews from other users

Patrick and Julian’s apartment is wonderful. An eclectic mix of wonderful pieces of art and furnishings in an inviting and comfortable space. Superbly located, a stroll from all things Parisienne and divine - boulangeries, patisseries, restaurants, everything one could ask for. Definitely a wonderful part of this marvelous city.

We stayed for 2 weeks, gladly met Julian but sadly not Patrick this time. They were wonderful to us and we’re still awaiting the chance to reciprocate.

We bought and left behind with P&J for future swappers two old bicycles which were our form of getting around - safely and easily in Paris.

Highly recommended !

Merci Patrick !

New York, wonderful apartment to swap with Amy & Julie…

Our sunny apartment is in an elegant 1912 building one block west of Central Park on the southern edge of the upper west side of Manhattan. A large living room and bedroom (with queen bed) face south, with views of midtown and peeks of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. A fully-equipped eat-in kitchen (with marble counters, Viking stove, dishwasher) faces east and has full city views as does the large study which has a pull-out double bed-sized couch and a large bay with original casement windows. The bath, accessible both from the bedroom and the study, includes a soaking tub and a separate shower. The apartment is large (1200 sq. ft.) with high ceilings, original moldings, and glass doors. Turn-of-the-century mirrored sliding doors separate the living room and bedroom. The building, in which there are many gay residents, is very well maintained and has a live-in superintendent. A laundry is located on the first floor.

image

The apartment is ideal for reaching all parts of Manhattan. Two subway lines and six bus lines all stop within a block of the apartment. Greenwich Village, Soho, Chelsea and Midtown are a short subway ride away. Central and Riverside Parks are both a short walk, as are Lincoln Center, the American Museum of Natural History, and the New York Historical Society. Fifth Avenue, with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, and the rest of “museum mile,” is a 15 minute walk through the park or accessible by crosstown bus.

image

The neighborhood is full of small restaurants, quirky shops, and movie theaters; one of NYC’s most famous food markets is four blocks from the apartment and a greenmarket/flea market is open each Sunday five blocks away.

We are two university professors—and one peaceable Persian cat, who will stay at home in New York. Julie teaches LGBT Studies, and Amy, now retired, taught U.S. culture and literature until a year ago. We are hoping to spend some time in Europe—Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Rome—during Julie’s summer break. We are limited by the fact that Amy is disabled and uses a mobility scooter to get around, so it is essential that any exchange be accessible—an elevator building or a first floor apartment, ideally (but not essentially) in a building with a flat entrance or a ramp. We hope to find someplace that is comfortable to spend time in, sunny, and with a usable kitchen, preferably with some outside space—even a tiny balcony will do.
